Blogging Challenge.

1/14/2014

The task: 1) Acknowledge the nominating blogger. 2) Share 11 facts about yourself. 3) Answer the 11 questions the nominating blogger has created for you.

Here we go!

1)    This was a something Carrie Jackson put out on Twitter. I decided I could meet the challenge, even if it was weeks later.  I'm not sure she has ever met me face to face, but I assume she has a Texas accent.

2)    11 Facts about me.

1.    I love Coke Zero, BLT’s, Taco Pizza, and Taco Johns.

2.    I think that people who “check-in” at the gym are ridiculous.

3.    I would love a 3 car garage for my tools.

4.    I became a History Teacher because I had a fantastic History Teacher one in 8th grade.

5.    My son is named after Benjamin Franklin and Andrew Jackson.

6.    If I wasn’t teaching, I would have like to been involved with baseball or writing for a sitcom.

7.    I could have caught the ball Nelson Cruz dropped in Game 6 of the WS.

8.    I love about everything about Fort Worth, Texas, and can’t stand Dallas.

9.    I have always eaten my cereal dry.

10. I wear a size 15 shoe.  Being 6’7”, the hardest part of my life is finding shirts long enough for me.

11. My favorite Disney movie of all time is Pete’s Dragon.

3)       My answers to Ms. Jackson’s Questions:  (I'm sorry Ms. Jackson [OOOH])

1. Why did you start blogging? – Mostly to hear my own voice.  Also, sometimes there was some things I wanted to write down to save for many reasons.  I guess it started with our daily D.C. Blogs on our first 8th grade trip to D.C.

2. What is your favorite post of your own? Why? – I’m not sure, I’m pretty proud of my Keys to the Kingdom Disney Tour Post.  Just a fantastic tour and experience.  Of course, the one about being on How the States Got their Shapes was pretty fun.

3. What was/is your favorite holiday activity? – I love the 4th of July.  I lament the fact I was not yet born nor old enough to remember the 1976 bicentennial.  I hope to live to the Tricentennial. No holiday is better than the 4th of July.  Baseball, America, and Apple Pie.

4. Share your favorite sports teams. – The joys and pains of fandom, I have experienced it all.  My teams are the Minnesota Twins and Vikings; Texas Rangers; and THE University of North Texas.  I grew up in Minnesota and got to witness in my baseball prime the GREATEST World Series ever in 1991.   As a Viking fan, I know the pain of the 1999 NFC Championship Game, and as a Ranger Fan, I have experienced the pain of Game 6, 2011.  Also, I do take pride in the fact that I cheer for my actual college, unlike all these… UT and A&M fans who didn’t even attend those schools.

5. In what activities did you participate in high school? – Basketball and Theatre.  I guess you could throw the Boy Scouts in there.  As you can tell, I was cool.  J  I recently went back to watch a play at my old high school and memories of 4 years of living in the theatre came flooding back.  Good times.  The Boy Scouts taught me many skills and values that I still possess today.  Great organization.

6. What makes you look forward to each day? – I love learning to thing each and every day.  Doesn’t matter if someone tells me a fun new story, I read something, or if I find out by trial and error.  Also, I do love seeing my wife and son every day,

7. What is your personal theme song? – Life’s a Happy Song – From the “Muppet” movie.  Life is as great as you make it.

8.  If you were part of a pizza, would you prefer to be the crust or the toppings? Why?  - Topping.  A pizza is a pizza, but the topping are what make it amazing.  Have you ever had Cane Rosso’s Bacon Marmalade?  Changed my life!  I love the Delia pizza.

9.  Share your favorite television program. – How I met Your Mother.  It is Legand… Wait for… Dary!  It is a perfect mix of humor, sadness, and the journey for Ted to find his wife.  If not HIMYM, it would be M*A*S*H or West Wing.

10. Share something you aspire to do in 2014.  – No joke.  I want to walk across some hot coals barefooted and I would love to bust out 5 pull-ups.  Of course, I’d have to do 1 before I could that.  Maybe this year.

11.  What is one thing you don’t know how to do that you wish you could learn? – How to use my (wood) router correctly to make some really nice woodworking projects.

This is awesome! I knew you'd have some cool answers to the questions...great stuff. And yes, not only do I have a Texas accent, but a small town Texas accent at that! Ha! Our TMS gang will be at Hillwood the afternoon of the 24th so we'll have to have a tweet-up!

This is the best blog(?) ever. Do you check this daily? How many social media pages do you have?( including tumblr XD) And you are the coolest/best/rad teacher ever!! Even though you eat your cereal dry(ew). By the way, you DO take steroids. I watch you take them in class and bust out doing push ups on the floor. You inspire me in so many ways and taught me that history actually interests my brain. Even though I ask too many questions and I'm not very good at it. Boo. Future teachers of mine are going to have a hard time competing against your awesome teaching. I doubt any of them will rise above you BECAUSE YOU ARE UNDEFEATABLE!!! Thanks for my unforgettable 8th grade year. I will miss you and hillwood :( LONG LIVE HUSKIES

Do you remember that teacher you had in school?
That one who you remember years later?
That one who had the most impact on your life?
I think E. had that teacher this year.
Thanks, Coach Ketcham - my son has never enjoyed school as much as he did in your classroom this year.
