About Coach Ketcham

The Real Coach Ketcham

Picture

About the Man, The Myth, The Legend

My name is Brian Ketcham. This is my 13th year teaching and my 3rd at Keller High, after spending the first 10 at Hillwood and Timberview Middle School.  (Really?  ten years?) After graduating from Fossil Ridge, I attended THE University of North Texas with a major in History.  I am very excited to be teaching here! My classroom is a fun, exciting, and always a surprise as to what  will happen next.  While I am no longer coaching, I am looking  forward to spending more time in the classroom and with my family. I was always a teacher who coached, not a coach that had to teach.

A little about  me.  I love America, Baseball, Tivo, History, my wife Trista, and my son Ben  (age 9).  Maybe in that order...  Trista and I got married in 2007.  We have no pets because we have a kid and he is enough work.  If I could  have dinner with any 7 people in History, I'd eat Taco Johns and drink Cherry RC  Cola, and finish with a DQ blizzard with Ben Franklin, Teddy Roosevelt, Alexander Hamilton, Andrew  Jackson, Babe Ruth, George Washington, and Abe Lincoln.  Now that would be a  party.  Can you even fathom that for a minute?  I am from Minnesota and love the  Twins and still have a special place for the Rangers.  Did I mention I love baseball?

I'd suggest your child pay attention in my class, cause I'm going to save them a ton of money because they won't need to hire a handyman in the future.  You're welcome.

If you EVER have ANY problem, question, or  concern, PLEASE contact me.   I will  be honest with you, I never check my voicemail. The best way to get a hold of me  is thru e-mail me at Brian.Ketcham@kellerisd.net. I  check that all the time.  I can call you back if you need me.

What is Tech Theatre Class?

Students will learn theatre safety.  Students will learn the aspects of design and implementation of design in scenery, props, costumes, lighting, and sound.  Students will also study makeup design and application.  Students will recognize the interdependence of all theatrical elements, and the role of a technical director and a technician in the rehearsal and performance process of a show.  Students will recognize the importance of and be able to effectively create publicity for a show.  Students will work in a variety of colors, textures, and mediums.

Really Though

My goal is your child will learn to appreciate ALL aspects of theatre, learn how to use tools safely, and when they are full grown adults and they make something and people asked him how did they learn to do that, they'll say, Coach Ketcham taught me.

About my Class

American History to 1865 is the survey of American history from the founding of the first permanent English settlements in North America through the present day. This course focuses on the  political, philosophical, and economic currents, from the establishment of  English colonies in North America through the end of the Civil War.

American History

Our history is not a story of perfection.  It's a story of imperfect people working toward great ideals. This flawed nation  is also a really good nation, and the principles we hold are the hope of all  mankind. When children are given the real history of America, they will also  learn to love America.

Our Founders believed the study of history and citizenship should be at the core of every American's education. Ignorance of  American history and civics weakens our sense of citizenship. To be an American  is not just a matter of blood or birth; we are bound by ideals, and our children  must know those ideals.

Experience is what you  get when you didn’t get what you wanted.

Loyalty is a two way street.

When you see yourself doing something badly and nobody’s bothering to tell you anymore, that’s a very bad place to
