FAQ
Q: What is a FAQ?
A: FAQ is an acronym for "frequently asked questions." (Yes, I really have to explain it all the time)
Q: What happens if I don't do my work?
A: You fail, my class, your 8th grade year, maybe your life.
Q: Will I have homework?
A: Only if YOU fail to use your time wisely in class. I don't give homework! The only homework you will have is if you don't do your work in class.
Q: Do you dress up as people in History?
A: I do sometimes dress as the people of the era we are studying did. Don't miss class. Ever.
Q: Am I allowed to go behind your desk or touch things on your desk?
A: No, violators will be shot on site. Hangings, Tar n' feathering's, or detentions are also options
Q: What is this Treasure Hunt you have?
A: Every early spring between February and March; I have a Treasure Hunt with combines things learned in the classroom teamwork, and pioneering skills.
Q: Why do you have a wood stove in your class?
A: In case it gets cold.
Q: Does history repeat itself?
A: Mistakes do, that is for sure. You can also repeat the class.
Q: How tall are you?
A: Taller than you. I'm 6'7" in the morning and 6'6" in the afternoon. True story. I am taller in the morning than in the evening because during normal activities during the day the cartilage in our knees and other areas slowly compress, but when I go to sleep and rest the cartilage goes back to normal. On average I are about 1cm taller the morning than in the evening.
Q: Do you answer your voicemails?
A: No. I do not have the ability to check my voicemails. Do not leave me a message. I still have messages from when George H.W. Bush was in office. If you need to get a hold of me, please e-mail me and I can call you back if you'd like.
Q: I heard the Texas flag is the only state flag that is allowed to fly at the same
height as the U.S. flag.?
A: THIS IS A LEGEND and is NOT TRUE.. Neither the Joint Resolution for Annexing Texas to the United States nor the Ordinance of Annexation contain any provisions regarding flags. Also, According to the United States Flag Code, any state flag can be flown at the same height as the U.S. flag; the U.S. flag should be on its right (the viewer's left), however.
Q: Why do Texans continue to believe the myth that only they can fly their state
flag as high as the US Flag??
A: I wish I knew.
Q: Why do many modern Texans have the vague idea - as did most secessionists - that because Texas entered as a former republic, it retained the right to leave the Union if it saw fit?
A: No such clause appears in the congressional act authorizing Texas to join the Union. Because it was once independent, because it at one time did secede from the Union, and because its ideology is far different from that of the rest of the US, Texas has always clung to the idea of a guaranteed right of secession as a mark of its specialness and as a source of reassurance in case all else fails. They have no more right than any other state to secede.
Q: Does Texas have the option to subdivide itself into as many as four states (a
total of five)?
A: This is true, and while their was some MINOR discussion of this in the mid 1900's,
this will never happen. Texas loves it shape to much. It was included in the
deal when Texas joined the Union.
Q: What are your favorite TV shows?
A: M*A*S*H, Big Bang Theory, How I met Your Mother, Ed, Everwood, Eli Stone, Saved by the Bell, West Wing, A Million Little Things, This is Us, Manifest.
Q: Where can I get information on the NYC Trip?
A: Please check out my NYC tab.
