3/9/15 Monday
Monday – 3/9/15
Early morning again. Breakfast and then a quick drive to the Ferry to take us to Ellis Island.
Ellis Island – The welcome mat to America for 98% of the people who came over. The last 2% were sent home for their illness. We had a great time exploring the History of Ellis Island before boarding our ferry to Liberty Island.
Statue of Liberty – She was gorgeous. After walking around and taking pictures, we grabbed a quick lunch and headed out to the financial district.
We walked around and saw Federal Hall, Bowling Green, and wall street., We then walked over to the Brooklyn Bridges, walked across to take some pictures, and then headed to the new 1,776’ tall World Center 1, and the 9/11 memorial. Very moving to see the memorial.
Neighbor Hoods – We then checked out Soho, Greenwich, Little Italy, Chinatown, Canal Street, the High Line, and Tribeca. It was a fun little trip around and even saw the “Friends” house.
We then had a great dinner at the Heartland Brewery. Service was great and food was fantastic. It was on the 1st floor of the empire state building.
After dinner, we went to the top of the Empire State Building and looked around. A few of use made poor decisions to take the stairs, and a few of us regret that decision. It was a perfectly clear night and everyone had a good time.
Now back at the hotel and getting ready for our last day.

3/8/15 - Sunday
Sunday Night.
Well, 6 Am came a little early for all of us. We got rolling after a solid breakfast at the hotel, and toured uptown Manhattan via Bus. A lot of people feel asleep because they were just too tired.
After a brief tour, we headed to the MET Museum and explored for a few hours. Kids had a fun time looking at all the millions of pieces they have on display. A true treasure chest.
That was followed by lunch at the food trucks, and then a bus ride to the U.S. Intrepid. Everyone got to go down into a Cold War submarine, check out the space shuttle Endeavor, and explore a giant air craft carrier.
After that, we went to Madame Tussauds Wax museum and the kids had a grand time taking pics with all the “celebs”. After that, a quick walk to Bubba Gump Shrimp company and finally, we walked to the Gershwin Theatre to catch Wicked.
The kids loved it, and the cast and crew did an amazing job. Everyone was impressed and it quickly followed with a great debate, “What did you like better? Phantom or Wicked. Count me in as #TeamWicked
That’s it for tonight. Statue of Liberty, Downtown, and Empire State building tomorrow.

3/7/15 Saturday –
We all arrived at the airport at 4:30 and quickly made it through the security. Except Coach Ketcham and his misspelled ticket and a couple of cans of hairspray.
Anyways, we quickly loaded up the plane and we were ready for takeoff. Except, we waited about 40 minutes for the plane to de-ice and be cleared for taker off.
We quickly went on our way and had a great flight.
We landed and met our Guide Bruce. Bruce lives in NYC and is a good egg. The kids were amazed how HUGE Newark was. They thought it was NYC. We quickly showed them the skyline of NYC, and they were even more impressed.
A quick stop for lunch and we went under the Hudson and entered the Big Apple. We immediately went to a snow covered Central Park, walk around, threw snowballs, and had a great time.
After that, we did some more walking around, checked out St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Trump Tower, and the Plaza hotel. Finally, a dinner at Planet Hollywood and off the see Phantom of the Opera. The show was great and the technical aspects were AMAZING!
Anyways, we are off to bed. A long day, and we lose two hours of sleep. One for the time zone, and one for the time change. Did I mention a 6:00 wake up call?
See you tomorrow.
